AMX Superstores

AMX is the one-stop shop for motorcycle accessories. Starting with one Melbourne store in 2008, the company has steadily grown to a network of 29 superstores throughout Victoria, NSW, Queensland, South Australia, ACT and Western Australia.

AMX has over 30,000 items available online, and 29 stores around the country to make shopping convenient.

The Issue

AMX Superstores had been sending emails to their database of customers and leads (350K+) with limited knowledge of how the emails were performing for the business, other than open, click and subscribe rates. The online store at the time wasn’t able to be connected to Mailchimp. Open and click rates were declining while unsubscribe was increasing and they wanted/needed fresh eyes on their strategy.

The Solution

Due to the size of the account, we agreed to complete an in-depth review to see how the software was working. From here we highlight a few changes that would make a big impact moving forward, such as email design and structure, segmentation, deleting unsubscribed contacts (as you are charged for them in Mailchimp), cleaning up old data and a strategy for moving forward. 

This kicked off the project, and shortly after, we had the system cleaned up, reduced the software cost, segmented the database, (the best we could, with Mailchimp’s limitations, read more about this), redesigned the emails and added a re-engaged process. The impact was noticeable straight away with the engagement but we were still struggling to know the exact sales figures. 

A new site was launched in July 2023 and we discussed moving to Klaviyo, this happened with 4 weeks until Black Friday/ Cyber Monday (BFCM) 2023, which we knew would be a busy time online. We took a risk and it more than paid off. In 4 weeks we set up the new software, built out Welcome, Abandoned Cart and Thank You flows, imported data from Mailchimp, finding 25K+ marketable contacts, warmed up the software and it made the impact we knew it would. 

BFCM 2023 Online had a 55% Year on Year (YoY) increase and 2024 increased again by 99% YoY with Klaviyo being a large factor in the marketing process.
